I know I have asked this but I have gotten new followers so I will ask once again.

It’s my LJ name and I wanted to have “captain” in my user name. I couldn’t figure out any words to go after that so I just threw two o’s on the end of it.

my old one was taptap which made people think of jacking off, so I changed it to something about herpes

i really don’t know, i just wanted it.

i might change it :/

I was born with mine… the “Shawn” part :-)

I never liked the name “blog”, but I was part of a “moblog” startup in 2002 and thought I needed to lock down the name or something. At one point, my domain had a really high Google rank becuase of the company site, so I’ve kept it and might make it my real legal name. I mean, why not?

Little White Lines

Today is one of those days.

I’m going through $20.00 bags way too fast. They go with me everywhere.

It’s Monday and I’m here at the office, waiting for the next time I can….

slip into the bathroom
pull out the tiny zippered plastic bags from my makeup bag
dump the crystalline powder on a small mirror
scrape it into little white lines with a razor
breathe in
and
wait for the little explosion in my brain.

I wake up and reach for it. I do it before work, during work, after work. I cut lines while I watch TV, while I clean the house, before I get into bed, during the night when I cannot sleep.

This is my little blog about what happens when you go snowblind.

This was my first actual post. There are some RSS feed items prior to this date and I also imported what I was able to salvage of my old blog and some other pictures and stuff, but this post was the first entry I ever made when I opened my tumblr account:

My bloated, directionless Wordpress blog, shawnblog.com, was either hacked or corrupted in some other way and I failed to restore the content. I really never chose a topic and was spending far too much time and, as much as I’d like to think I should be, I’m not on the A, B or C list of bloggers.

It seems that, with the “social web” and “web 2.0” direction things seem to be moving in, the passionate argument I used to make (that web based, hosted solutions are better for the mainstream and therefore, will be more likely to grow and become wildly popular) when I worked for TA may have been correct (of course).

Look at all the browser based, hosted “apps” out there! Who needs to install something and administer scripts when you can just use the latest and greatest newly developed services at will?

I might always maintain a more static page somewhere but it will not be something I have to upgrade and tweak all the time. Not hating (at all), just seeing that the blog idea might be old (finally) or evolving as anything that grows must do.

This looks like a great service. For now Soon, shawnblog.com is “running” Serendipity will be fed by tumblr and it’s going to get about 75% 78% less of my time.
