This threw me for a moment since my name was in the subject, but the reference is to a friend named Shawn (who also spells the name correctly). I guess since I provided my AIM user name to Facebook (in my profile), they have decided that it’s OK to spam me with this message… about AIM.
I mean, I already have AIM. I think I know how to decide when /if I want to use that service to chat with people online. I like using Facebook to chat with other Facebook users, so I don’t know why they would promote this other than for money.
There’s a nice little opt-out link, so I guess the spam is professionally produced and administered. That’s nice to know anyway.

I’ve had hundreds of spam “comments” to vanityplat.es in the last day or so. I get them all the time, but never this many in such a short period of time. Is it possible this person at a Food Lion office in Salisbury, NC is using Delhaize/Food Lion resources to initiate these attacks as a side business while “working” overnight?
Yeah, it looks that way. Of course, this could also be someone who has hacked Food Lion’s network at this location and is simply stealing their resources, but my guess is someone “working” there is thinks they are very clever and runs the spambot.
If someone with Delhaize/Food Lion were to search their workstations for the browser Rippers, which is shown here as the browser and in fact can be used to copy a site and run a program to spam all the pages of that site, they would have only to check the time on the entry above and they would have the person who is spamming web sites (probably not just mine) while they are “at work” there at the Food Lion office in or near Salisbury, NC.
Do you run any Wordpress powered blogs? If so, do you get a lot of spam?
Could this be a real comment? I’ve started a number of blogs, but none more meaningful than vanityplat.es (that is, meaningful to me). I would love to have non spammers actually participate. The link under his name was just a link to Google. He’s obviously very observant and insightful! ;-)

Even though I already decided to cancel my free credit report (some might call them a scam), they seem to think I am still a customer. In a perfect world (or in a well run company), when a customer cancels their account, they should be removed from marketing databases!
It may be a survey asking why I chose to leave, but the messaging here does not indicated the nature of the survey - only that they would like me to participate. Poorly messaged or mismanaged customer list, I am not impressed and woulnd’t take either excuse anyway.
Oh, and the unsubscribe link is a mailto instead of a web page. I smell spam.
