Not really a Yelp FAIL here, but I’m actually in this restaurant and getting the “too far away to check in here” error. I see two entries with the same street address on Yelp, but the one with pics and ratings is showing as 2.6 miles away… So it’s more of a Yelp user FAIL, right?
I guess I could check in at the one that is correctly geo-located but has no pics or reviews. I think I’ll do just that, but now my sandwich is here!
So, I only thought I was “over it” with checking in on Yelp! It turns out that I can be ousted and even lose a badge if I don’t continue to check in regularly.
I can’t go losing a badge. Seriously. I’m the Baron of Bloomingdale after all!
I’m over check ins on Yelp. I’ll still write some reviews on occasion and I may check in once in a while when I’m out of the area or if something is truly interesting.
I just found myself obsessively checking in all the time. It also seemed to be competitive among other Yelp.com users. Seriously? It’s a great idea for a web site and quite useful, but the check in game gets old really fast.
I am going to go check in somewhere in Chevy Chase every day this week though! ;-)
Oh damn!
Huzzah!
I’m the King.
Something’s funky with Yelp right now.
Yelp is introducing business owner comments. I know of several businesses I’ve reviewed that will participate in this and I think it will be interesting to see how some of them use this to interact with customers.
If you are not already aware, Yelp is a great site that allows consumers to sound off about their experiences with local businesses. Letting owners in on this was needed and is awesome.
