It always irks me that delivery vehicles just park 3-5 or more feet out from the curb, just blocking parking spaces when they’re definitely meant to use loading zones or docks where available. This particular driver was just sitting there enjoying his &pizza (not bad btw), parked here as shown—like he’s on some kind urgent mission.
it’s bad enough when they take up so much space for so long while actually providing service in and around town, but for lunch? What is the UPS policy on this? Is there one?
Though Missouri is infamous abroad for its simmering sectarian tensions and brutal regime crackdowns, foreign visitors here are greeted warmly and with hospitality. A lawless expanse of dogwood trees and beer breweries, Missouri is located in a central United States region that Americans refer to, curiously, as the “MidWest” though it is nearer to the country’s east.
It is known among Americans as the home of Mark Twain, a provincial writer from the country’s small but cherished literary culture, and as the originator of Budweiser, a traditional American alcoholic beverage. Budweiser itself is now owned by a Belgian firm, in a sign of how globalization is transforming even this remote area of the United States. Analysts say some american communities have struggled as globalization has pulled jobs into more developed countries, worsening instability here.
You see, I work for McDonald’s in Denmark, where an agreement between our union and the company guarantees that workers older than 18 are paid at least $21 an hour. Employees younger than 18 make at least $15 — meaning teenagers working at McDonald’s in Denmark make more than two times what many adults in America earn working at the Golden Arches.
As it should be. I don’t want the people making food I might eat when I’m in a hurry in such a way that they don’t care at all about what happens to that food in the process. I want people who feel valued in the work that they’re doing and who want their jobs—not people who, at the end of the day, really couldn’t care less.

I have a friend locally who is a business owner and didn’t like the idea of paying for inclusion in being featured on Yelp which is exactly what they offered him. Ever since he turned them down, he has noticed that positive reviews are not shown me at the top of his results even though their newer reviews.
I was surprised when I heard this! I have used his business so I wrote a positive review because I’m happy with his business. It was not an in-depth review but it did turn up at the top of the results. I was a Yelp “elite” for several years in a row, so based on that, I’m guessing they “bury” positive reviews from Yelp members who have not written any or many reviews yet.
